Update from the Contractors, AJC

Rapid progress continues to be made at Roman Corner. This month we have received a comprehensive update from the building contractor, AJC.

For the less technically minded:

• a crash deck is a temporary safety platform to prevent falls and
• a lift is the phase of brickwork. Each section of brick work and scaffold is classed as a “lift”.

Work is progressing at Roman Corner. AJC’s Site Manager, Paul Whittaker has provided information on current build stage and keep milestone dates.

Scaffold has now been lifted to 4^th lift to allow the 2^nd floor planks to be installed and 5^th lift block and brickwork to be formed.

A&G brickwork will take approximately 10 days to form all block and face brickwork to the 5^th lift, once we are at a point where block work has been taken up a level, we then install a crash deck to the internal rooms so we then can install 5^th lift scaffold.

The crash deck will be installed on Friday 7^th August.

5^th lift scaffold installation date is the 11^th August this will take 3 days to install.

Once we are at scaffold height, we can then take the block and face brick work up to allow us to install the steels which will take the roof trusses.

Ground floor.

Is set and ready to start internal trades.

Milestones

First floor planks installation completed 9^th June. Second floor planks installation completed 21^st July.

Up and coming planned dates.

• Crash deck install Friday 7^th August
• 5^th lift scaffold install date 11^th August.
• 6^th lift brick and block work 18^th August.
• Structural steel work 25^th August
• Roof truss install 2^nd September

AJC are passionate about building affordable homes and as part of our commitment we pledge our ‘500 in 5’ initiative in January 2023 to tackle the region’s critical shortage of genuinely affordable homes. Now halfway through our five-year target, we have completed 10 developments, with five more currently under construction.

Roman Corner supports our pledge and mission to provide affordable housing across the Wessex region.  

AJC are committed to not only making progress on the build but building our relationship with the local community.

Our Project Team completed a litter pick in Dorchester Gardens on Thursday 30^th July where we collected 4 sacks full bags of rubbish. We will continue to work on community projects throughout the project.
