In mid-February 2026, work finally began on this Dorset Area Community Land Trust (DACLT) development off Trinity Street, in the heart of Dorchester.

The site, located at the corner of Bowling Alley Walk and West Walks, was identified in 2017 by Dorchester's Town Clerk and the Trust was formed. 10 years later, with planning permission in place and funding secured, work started on site.

DACLT is working with partners including Dorset Council, Dorchester Town Council and East Boro Housing Trust. EBHT will manage the 15 newly built one-bedroom flats.

These flats will be let at social rent to people aged up to age 35 who are employed in Dorchester, with a single income of up to £30,000 or a combined income of up to £60,000. Anyone interested in renting one of the flats should Register for housing with Dorset council by following this link: Register for housing - Dorset Council

The contractors, AJC Construction, are making rapid progress with the development, which it is hoped to be ready for letting by the autumn of 2027.
